Carbohydrates are not all bad! They provide the fuel for our muscles and our brain! Carbohydrates are broken down to glucose and the stored in muscles, liver and the brain as glycogen. If you go to low or for too long without sufficient carbohydrate stores memory, moods and your energy can suffer. If you have ever been around a natural body builder or wrestler when they are close to their event you might experience their roller coaster of emotions: crabbiness, short tempered, foggy, moody and tired!

Lauren, NCB and I teach the importance of choosing and eating high quality carbohydrates from fruits, vegetables and other plant foods that provide complex carbohydrates like legumes and minimally processed foods, nutrient dense shakes and snacks. Timing and the grams of carbohydrates can be planned based on your activity levels and schedule.
