Food choices for your BBQ this July 4th
So another holiday is upon us, you may question what food choices are best to keep you on track with a healthy living plan or current weight loss endeavor.
Whether you are the host of the cook out or you’ll be attending a BBQ, planning ahead is the key to success!
If you are the cook this Monday, make sure you include some healthy options for yourself and guests. If you are attending a party offer to bring a dish that you know that you will be able to eat just in case the other options are not so “figure friendly”.
Great choices this fourth would be grilled chicken or lean steak and stick some veggie kabobs on the grill as well. Hummus or some homemade guacamole and vegetables or all natural corn chips to munch on before the main course is a great idea. For dessert stick to a fresh fruit salad, if you desire extra sweetness add in some all natural Greek or soy strawberry yogurt. Other options fresh fruit, watermelon on a hot day hits the spot.
Just remember though food is highly correlated with Holiday time, it is the time spent with family and friends as well as the magic of the fireworks that really makes the occasion. You can still have an enjoyable meal this fourth without setting your weight loss goals back.
